Music Dealer Update - New Pricing for 2024 and retirement of coupon codes

Music Dealer Update - New Pricing for 2024 and retirement of coupon codes

This is an important notice about the introduction of new pricing and retirement of download coupons for digital audio downloads. All existing backorders or new orders received before 1 April 2024 will be invoiced at the existing legacy prices. We would highly recommend that you make the most of this interim period and replenish your inventories before 31 March 2024

General increase to listed recommended retail prices from 1 April 2024

From 1 April 2024 listed recommended retail prices will increase. This is due to the changing financial climate including changes in currency exchange rates, sustained increases in printing costs (including paper stock, ink and toner), increased shipping costs, and upwards pressures on labour costs. As such we strongly encourage you to adjust your listed pricing accordingly.

This is our first general pricing increase since Promethean Editions was launched in 1997.

Piano and Percussion editions first to be repriced

These series are the first to be repriced and will come into effect on 1 April 2024. New prices can be found in the downloadable link here.

  • The “ListPrice_NZD (incl.GST)” price is priced inclusive of New Zealand GST (15%) and can be used as the inclusive prices in your sales catalogues and webstores for New Zealand music dealers. Prices have generally increased by 20-25%.

  • The “ListPrice_NZD (excl.GST)” price is priced exclusive of GST and can be used to calculate your list prices for sales catalogues and webstores for International dealers. Prices have generally increased by 20-25%.

  • The “ListPrice_AUD (incl.GST)” price is a local price for Australian publications in the Australian market only and is inclusive of Australian GST (10%).

Some examples of our new prices:

  • Our first edition PE001 Kembang Suling was priced at NZD42.00 when first published in 1997. This price has been unchanged until now and is repriced to NZD67.00 (excluding NZ GST).

  • Our first piano edition PE005 Ice Man was priced at NZD49.00 when first published in 1998. Its new price is NZD64.00 (excluding NZ GST) or AUD45.00 (including Australian GST).

Repricing for the remaining catalogues

We anticipate that repricing of our other printed series will be announced before the end of June 2024. We will similarly provide updated pricing catalogues prior to this date.

US prices remain unchanged

Please note that the US pricing of our editions available from Theodore Presser remains unchanged at this time.

Backorders and orders placed before April 2024

Please note that all existing backorders or new orders received before 1 April 2024 will be invoiced at the existing legacy prices. We would highly recommend that you make the most of this interim period and replenish your inventories by 31 March 2024.

Download coupons for digital audio downloads retired

We have been progressively retiring the inclusion of single-use coupon codes to redeem digital audio downloads included in our printed editions. Our new pricing reflects this change.

  • Our most popular edition PE087 One Study One Summary was priced at NZ$70.00 (excluding NZ GST) when first published 2008. This price included the sheet music and a download coupon code. The new price for the sheet music is NZ$84.00 (excluding NZ GST) and the digital download is NZ$10.00 (excluding GST).

The inside text in the score has also been updated to explain this.

Previously customers were able to download a copy of these files at no additional charge. Customers must now purchase the requisite digital download component from our webstore https://store.prometheaneditions.com/collections/editions-with-digital-audio-downloads.

We strongly encourage you to update your product listings to remove any mention that download codes are included with the printed editions and note that customers will need to purchase the downloads from our webstore.
