Hindson’s In Search of Ecstasy (1997) is a flamboyant work for solo saxophone and piano that showcases the highly appealing range of saxophone sounds. In writing this work, Hindson drew influence from popular music, in particular the incessant beat of techno music, which makes it a particularly energetic work. In Search of Ecstasy also contains free time sections allowing for some open performance interpretation.
