Telluric Dances

Influenced by Greek dance music, Christos Hatzis’ concerto for oboe and orchestra Telluric Dances showcases virtuosic oboe writing through a blend of exotic and exciting orchestrations based on Mediterranean and Eastern European dance forms. This publication reveals Hatzis’ bold and often surprising approach to orchestral writing, which includes technically demanding oboe cadenza passages, improvised percussion and ‘unconventional’ orchestral devices, including some simple and affective staging directions for the soloist.
